Pupil Premium Funding is to be utilised by schools to:
- Raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap with their peers
- Support children and young people with parents in regular armed forces
Principles
At Wimborne First School and Nursery, we aim to ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all pupils. We ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups; this includes ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged pupils are adequately assessed and addressed. In making provision for socially disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged. We also recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals.
Pupil Premium funding is allocated to Schools on the following basis:
- £1,455 per pupil recorded as Eligible for Free School Meals in the last 6 years (Ever 6 FSM)
- £2,530 per looked-after child (LAC) defined in the Children Act 1989 as one who is in the care of, or provided with accommodation by, an English local authority
- £2,530 per pupil who has ceased to be looked after by a local authority in England and Wales because of adoption, a special guardianship order, a child arrangements order or a residence order
- £330 per pupil recorded as Ever 5 Service Child or in receipt of a child pension from the Ministry of Defence

Reporting
It is the responsibility of the Head Teacher or a delegated member of staff (Pupil Premium Lead) to produce regular reports for the school Governors. The reports should focus on measuring the effectiveness of the Pupil Premium approach and spending against its impact on disadvantaged children compared with non-disadvantaged nationally.
The school is committed to meeting the needs of all pupils, whether or not they are eligible for the Pupil Premium.
